Mark your calendars for Guinea Pig Workshop! Apr 22, 2013 to Apr 25, 2013
9 to 5
WHY TRAIN GUINEA PIGS: Training dogs is easy compared to training other species due to the special relationship humans and dogs share. Dogs tend to overlook most of our mistakes and give us a second chance. Animals that do not have such a bond are much less forgiving so its a high priority to be precise, plan your training, develop observational skills and have a Plan B available. Since you will not have a strong relationship with a Guinea Pig, it will allow you to be more objective. Training one will improve your theoretical knowledge as well as your mechanical skills. Roger Abrantes has trained many different animals for scent detection, among them the Gambian Giant Pouched Rat. He is the author of the Trainers Handbook the Apopo trainers use to train the famous Hero Rats that detect Land Mines and TB and he was their instructor. He is a special advisor to the GNR (Portuguese Police) and the instructor at the CNCA (California Narcotic Canine Association). In these workshops, Dr. Abrantes will be your instructor and you'll be the trainer of the Guinea Pigs that you'll teach to detect gunpowder or tobacco. You will also teach your Guinea Pig a series of agility related skills. For more information, please call 407-574-3160 or email email@example.com. Coming from out of town?
