Chief Warrant Officer 5 and master gunner Michael Mogg first thought of retiring after 29 years in the military.
But that changed when it turned out he would have a chance to serve with his daughter Miranda in Afghanistan.
The pair deploy next month and will be in the same brigade where Miranda is an intelligence analyst.
That means she’ll be briefing her father.
"For once she gets to tell me what to do" Mogg chuckled.
Miranda told the Watertown Daily News "if you’re going to go to war, you should go with people you know."
Michael says he’ll enjoy being able to keep an eye on Miranda but he is concerned about one thing “if I eat something wrong, she’s going to narc on me."
But he smiled when he said the close proximity can also play to his advantage “she’s single, and I’m an armed father down range."
This will be the fifth deployment for Michael Mogg.
