We've Got A New Pope! And He's Latin! After the resignation of Pope Benedict the 16th we have chosen a new Pope! Six hundred years ago was the last time a Pope resigned.
After a day and a half of of discussion, finally Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio was elected. He has chosen the papal name Pope Franci after Saint Francis of Assis who was known to root for the poor. He is also the first Jesuit priest
Some facts to know:
-- He opposes gay marriage and abortion -- He's the son of Italian immigrants and he's the first non -European pope in over 1,000 years, and the first EVER from the Americas.
