Neil Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon and sadly, died Saturday of complications from surgery he had a few weeks ago to clear a blocked artery.   He was 82.

Armstrong made history on July 20th, 1969, when he stepped off the Apollo 11 Lunar Module and said, "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."  He was 38 at the time.

Fellow crewmember Buzz Aldrin issued a statement saying, "I know I am joined by millions of others in mourning the passing of a true American hero and the best pilot I ever knew."
