The night before Houston was to take the stage at the Grammys, she passed away February 11 of 2012. She was found dead in her guest room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in California. Toxicology reports showed that she had accidentally drowned in the bathtub due to the effects of chronic cocaine use and heart disease.
There was a tribute done for Whitney where Jennifer Hudson sang her song, I will always love you.

In February, a funeral was held for Whitney houston in New Jersey. It was a private ceremony with only close family and friends. Kevin Costner, who played opposite Houston in the movie The Bodyguard did an incredible speech:

Whitney’s daughter Bobbi Kristina obviously struggled with the news of the tragedy and did an interview with Oprah Winfrey discussing what hse was giong through.
