Kobe Bryant Signs New Contract

Kobe Bryant has signed a two-year extension with the L.A. Lakers and the deal is worth about $48.5 million.  He is still the NBA's highest-paid player.

He hasn't played since suffering a torn Achilles tendon in April.  Looks like this year he will make more than $30 million this season, for the final year of his current contract.  The GM for The Lakers said, "This is a very happy day for Lakers fans and for the Lakers organization. We've said all along that our priority and hope was to have Kobe finish his career as a Laker, and this should ensure that that happens."
