Bolian, a co-driver, and a passenger made the "Cannonball Run" in a 2004 Mercedes Benz CL55. The passenger's key role was to spot police speed traps (they did not get pulled over during the epic drive) and to keep the drivers awake.
For his daytime job, Bolian is the sales director for Lamborghini of Atlanta.
He told Jalopnik.com that to cut back on time needed to refuel he added two 22-gallon fuel tanks in addition to the car's factory-installed 23-gallon tank.
That allows the car to have up to 67 gallons of gas when filled. That allows Bolian to travel more than 800 miles between fuel stops.
The team also used a police scanner and GPS units to check on traffic. The car was also customized with a switch to kill the rear lights, a CB radio and two police laser jammers.
In addition to the technological preparation, the team also made sure to bring snacks, iced coffee and bedpans for when Mother Nature called.
