Carnival Corp. has announced that it had discovered unauthorized access to its computer systems earlier this year.
The company, which operates Carnival Cruise Line, Holland America Line and Princess Cruises, said that personal information of guests, employees and crew members was accessed in March, Reuters reported.
The company said it reported the data breach to regulators and hired a cybersecurity firm to investigate.
The information accessed included Social Security numbers, passport numbers, birth dates, addresses and health information, The Associated Press reported.
The company has alerted the people whose information was taken; however, the company said, “There is evidence indicating a low likelihood of the data being misused,” Reuters reported.
Carnival has not said how many people were affected, but will set up a call center to answer questions, the AP reported.
