Listen, watch: They Might Be Giants writes ‘Schoolhouse Rock!’-style song to explain Electoral College

It was a Saturday morning staple. Thanks to “Schoolhouse Rock!” we grew up learning how a bill becomes a law from Bill himself, counting and multiplying by fives and how conjunctions function.

Now the group They Might Be Giants put their spin on the Electoral College with a “Schoolhouse Rock!”-inspired music video for CNN explaining who are the electors who actually select the president.

Attention voters-we made a song for CNN about the Electoral College! https://www.cnn.com/videos/us/2020/08/12/electoral-college-music-video-they-might-be-giants.cnn

The lyrics explain the difference between voters and electors: “You signal your choice, you give them your trust; But it’s up to them, and not up to us; We’re only the voters; They are the electors.”

The video and song were created as part of a special CNN report on the Electoral College and the controversy it spawns.
